(or take the shortcut to Smoothrock Lake) 15 map pages. (PDF download)

Take the train from Armstrong (or from further afield if you prefer) to one of the 3 put-in points: mile 54.6 at the Allanwater Bridge; mile 62.5 at Barrington Lake; or mile 67.3 at the Flindt River Bridge on Heathcote Lake. Or from the west, join the Flindt a little further south with only a short shuttle from Highway 599.
Paddle the Flindt River north to Wabakimi Lake, Kenoji Lake, Ogoki River, Whitewater Lake, McKinley Lake, Smoothrock Lake, Caribou River, Caribou Lake and Little Caribou Lake - to the take-out by the bridge at the south end. The bridge is 5km (3 miles) from the town of Armstrong.
Or alternatively, paddle south on Smoothrock Lake throuigh the Boilling Sands River to takeouts on Tamarack Lake or the Via Rail line.
This is a 226km (140 mile) 13 day trip.
PLUS - We have included a shortcut that Leaves Wabakimi Lake at the eastern end via Lower Wabakimi and Smoothrock Lake. Omitting Ogoki River and Whitewater Lake for a 183km 10 day trip.
We have also included the Flindt/Allanwater River connection via Gault and Stump Lakes (supplementary Map 3a) - something to think about.
